Manchester City supporters are awaiting the customary run of victories that leads to a premier League title. The champions have failed to put together a victorious sequence with their best run being three consecutive victories. This inconsistency is reminiscent of their 2019/20 form when their best five-match winning streak only came at the end of the season. Sadly, Liverpool had already secured the Premier League title.
Manchester City’s longest winning runs
2017/18
The 2017/18 season saw Manchester City put together one of its longest winning runs (18 wins) from Game week 3 to game week 20 without dropping any points. During the run Manchester city scored 5 goals or more against Liverpool, Watford, Crystal Palace and Stoke City. In the impressive run Manchester City scored 58 goals against their opponents while conceding 11 goals. The series of victories saw the Citizens secure 1st position in the league from week 5 until the end of the season.
2018/19
In 2018/19 season Manchester City was pushed all the way by Liverpool FC. Manchester City had an impressive start to the season with 13/15 wins and two draws in the first 15 games. The blues however gave away the top spot to Liverpool after losing 3 games in 4 games between week 16 to 19. Liverpool held the top spot for 13 weeks before a series of draws which City took advantage of. City put together 14 consecutive wins claiming the top sot in the Premier League title.
2020/21
The Blues started the season with the goal of wrestling the Premier league title from Liverpool who had won it the previous season. Manchester City secured its fifth Premier League title and seventh overall in the 2020/21 premier League season. The Citizens did not produce the usual convincing start to their season as usual. In the first 13 games City won 6 games, 5 draws and lost twice with their best league position to that point being seventh. The Blues put together a 13-game winning run which catapulted them from 9th to 1st position by game week 20 which they didn’t relinquish.
